Improve thulium doped fiber laser power is an important direction in the development of fiber laser, the output wavelength of laser wavelength is located in the 2 um or so, water molecules have a thorough knowledge of the near infrared absorption peaks in the wavelength range, so it is considered to be used in medicine, eye safety, ultrafast optical, close the ideal light source of remote sensing, biology, has the very good development prospect. In addition, the high-power doped fiber laser can not only be used as the safe wavelength of human eyes and liDAR light source, but also can be used as the pump source of solid-state crystal laser to further realize the output of infrared laser with longer wavelength.



793nm EEL pumped thulium-doped (Tm) fiber laser to generate a 1.9μm laser, then pumped holmium doped (Ho) fiber laser to obtain a 3-5μm laser through nonlinear effect, with eye safety characteristics.


With the continuous development of optical fiber technology, as well as the emergence and commercialization of 793nm high-power pump laser, the industry's demand for optical fiber lasers and amplifiers in the field of eye safe wavelength is growing rapidly. It is difficult to make lasers with eye safe wavelength using traditional technology. And thulium-doped (Tm) fiber lasers are playing an increasingly important role in this emerging market with their unique advantages.

The newly developed 793nm EEL single-tube chip has the following parameters: it can achieve 10W continuous laser output at 190um strip width, electro-optical efficiency ~60%, limit power >20W, life > 50,000 hours. It has realized the domestic replacement, met the national demand, and is now being shipped in bulk, achieving good economic benefits.
